Since this is somewhat related to how we access the internet on our
ageless machines.....

Just finished hooking up the LinkSys 4-port router (BEFSR41) and
configured it with excellent Mac tech support from Verizon.
First message that popped in is Jeff's reply to the 2930 thread.

I am noticing somewhat of a delay in accessing web sites before loading
the page.
Also, a bit of delay before downloading the mail.

With direct connection through the modem (but also having to use the
god-awful MacPoet stuff), things were much zippier.
The actual downloads seem to be at pretty much the same speed.

Anyhoo, from getting DSL to setting things up through a router, the good
ol' 10-baseT port on the S900 is finally getting a workout after
gathering dust for close to 5 years since I bought it new in 1998.

I guess one of these days I'll have to get off my donkey and do
something about that noisy fan.
Reminds me of a good friend who refused to part with his bothersome
wisdom tooth.
