Since this is somewhat related to how we access the internet on our ageless machines.....
Just finished hooking up the LinkSys 4-port router (BEFSR41) and configured it with excellent Mac tech support from Verizon. First message that popped in is Jeff's reply to the 2930 thread. I am noticing somewhat of a delay in accessing web sites before loading the page. Also, a bit of delay before downloading the mail. With direct connection through the modem (but also having to use the god-awful MacPoet stuff), things were much zippier. The actual downloads seem to be at pretty much the same speed. Anyhoo, from getting DSL to setting things up through a router, the good ol' 10-baseT port on the S900 is finally getting a workout after gathering dust for close to 5 years since I bought it new in 1998. I guess one of these days I'll have to get off my donkey and do something about that noisy fan.
