Jeff,

Thanks for all the info - it gives me a lot more to think about. I'd like
to continue using this System 7.6.1 OS, as it's stable in the J700, and
I've got a ton of neat and useful software in here. But, I hear talk here
that I could be running OS9+. I assume that would entail a processor
upgrade, as the 604e in here prolly can't be convinced to run OS 9. That I
don't want to do - I'd rather just get a G4 or G5 much later on.

Continuing with 7.6.1, then I'd at least like a more obtainable HD, so
I think the way to go here is buying a PCI card that provides IDE/ATA
service, plus an IDE HD. Thus thinking, there are questions, as I'm not up
on IDE hardware issues. I am comfortable with SCSI bus issues (ID #'s,
termination,etc), but I'm a total stranger to IDE/ATA. Here's the deal:

I'd be replacing the current SCSI 4.5GB drive with the IDE arrangement. I
need to run both together, in order to transfer the entire environment
from the SCSI to the IDE HD. It all has to happen in this machine. Is
this possible?

I'll end here, there'll be more questions, I'm sure!
