Hi Again.
I thought all was well with Jaguar again. Seem to boot up quickly but didn't go into a full boot, if there is such a term. Monitor stays blue but nothing shows up on the desktop. The cursor moves but that is it. I had to shut down manually and go back to OS9.1 and then to OSX using XPost. The strange thing was that it went through all the usual stages in starting up. Any ideas as to why this is happening?
Thanks again for all former advice.
Jacqueline
I had a blue screen problem from an upgrade I made. WillS gave me this answer that worked (edited):
Start up holding down the apple & S keys this will put you in single user mode. When the screen text stops running and you have a : and blinking marker so you can type in text.
type in "fsck -y" don't type the " and there is a space between the k and - . This will run the UNIX file& disk repair which is included with all UNIX OS's If it finds errors it will tell you that and auto repair them . Run it again until it says this disk seems to be ok. Then type "logout" don't type " and it then will startup [ you can type "exit" also to continue the startup]. Try this a couple of times if it doesn't work the first time. This often works and I run it whenever things are running a bit odd.
I had to run it several times. Now like WillS, I run this check frequently. The shutdown is different too as you will see if you try this. HTH.
