What does Norton say when you run it? I'm thinking the partition map is hooped. Sometimes a partition map becomes inaccurate, and that can cause data loss, crashing, and probably mount failures too. I have a freeware utility, for OS 9, named "Partition Fixer", but darned if I can find it anywhere on the Internet for you to download. It's a sort of last gasp effort to repair a partition before having to resort to reformatting a drive. Partition Fixer doesn't harm any files. In any event, you should be considering backing up your crucial files before it becomes worse. If you do have to reformat, consider using 2 or 3 partitions at most. The fewer the partitions, the less chance of this problem recurring. I think I'll email you, and attach Partition Fixer, since I can't find a reference to it on the Net anymore. It's very small in size. -Howie -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
