Umax S900
Processor: Sonnet Crescendo G4/450
OS: currently OS 9.1 but planning to upgrade to 10.2.6/9.2.2 soon
RAM: 728 MB
PCI- slot A1: ATTO, ExpressPCI (disabled for the time being)
PCI- slot B1: ATI Mac Edition Radeon 7000 running 19" Sumsung
PCI- slot C1: Empty
PCI- slot D1: FW-Direct USB/FW card
PCI- slot E1: Empty
PCI- slot F1: EmptySCSI Bus: 0,ID# 1: Seagate ST3917W - 9gb hard drive (used to be connected to the ATTO card)
SCSI Bus: 0,ID# 3: CD-ROM Matshita (with CD-Rom Toolkit driver)
SCSI Bus: 0,ID# 4: CDRW4416S Yamaha internal
unfortunately, as you can see, i decided for the time being to disable the UW card (due to lack of time to continue to troubleshoot!) it is perhaps a bit slower on the system bus but at least i'm up and running. i haven't ultimately given up, rather pushed it aside for the time being ;-)
thanks again. christopher

You may have already tried this order, but I have somewhat similar cards and had similar problems and what finally worked for me was:
slot 1 - ATI Radeon 7000 slot 2 - SCSI card (mine is a Miles U2W) slot 3 - free slot 4 - Firewire card
okay, now i need help!
i have the following configuration:
umax s900/200 with a newertech gr/400 upgrade 700+ MB ram slot 1 - atto express-pci UW scsi card connected to a seagate barracuda hd slot 2 - twin turbo 128 vid card slot 3 - firewire direct usb/fw card
<snip>
last week i ordered an ati radeon 7000 video card to replace the aging tt128. this is where my troubles began. i first tried to simply switch the two cards. when i went to start up, nothing. after a few hours of various configurations, i finally got a startup screen again, which brings me to where i'm at now (this is a shortened version i know, but it's late and i'm trying to keep it simple as possible ;-)
i have the radeon installed in the same slot as the tt-128 was (#2), the usb/fw is also in it's previous slot and the two cd drives are in on the system scsi cable. the problem is that although i can get the system to recognize the atto card in slot 1 (verified through atto protools) it won't show the connected drive. i should also note at this point a few stumbling blocks i have - the system folder for startup in on the 9gb drive while the 2gb is empty. in my previous config (and i'm not sure why it was like this) i had only the 9gb on the atto card while the other 2gb was on the regular system scsi chain (although i can now see it has a uw connector with a wide adapter). anyway, i call this a stumbling block because i can only boot now when my 9gb is installed on the regular system bus. and when i try flip flopping the drives (9gb on the atto and 2gb on the system) it just won't boot properly (fan starts and hd's spin but no more). arghh! so frustrating because it was working fine before.
i also updated the firmware on the atto card, no change. i checked the scsi termination on both the system bus and atto bus and THINK i have them proper. what else am i missing? i'm thinking it must be some scsi-conflict problem or possible the famous s900 slot issue (although i think it;s not)
