Hi Will,
Thanks for the info, as I am trying to use a C500/603ev/180 computer. Quite
a difference from the J700 I had been using.
A question for you - Just what is the difference between an ATA drive and an
IDE drive?

Thanks,

<<<Sybil>>>

Sybil the short answer is for hard drives ATA and IDE are one and the same. I believe older hard drives were usually called IDE but ATA is the term used today for hard drives of that type. Most any ATA/ IDE drive should be fine in your C500 machine. Some of the larger higher priced drives may not work with an older Mac OS in some cases. CDR and CDRW and DVD drives with the same connector cables as the ATA hard drives are commonly referred to as IDE drives and not ATA. There is a longer reason for this but most people wouldn't be interested nor need to know. I am also not the right person to go into details on this subject. later Will S
PS the C500 is a nice machine if you don't need more then 2 PCI slots or more RAM for the programs you run then the machine can handle.
