Since we're on the topic of Sonnett G4 cards, I thought I pass on a little
discovery. Now this in all probability has nothing to do with my present
Quicktime problem because that began a few weeks ago, although that did
occur about the same time I installed my Sonnett software even though I had
the extensions turned off since then and have only been running my xlr8
carrier and software.

Anyway, I asked Will if he thought it would work and he gave me the wise
response, which is essentially 'try it'. What I tried was to run my new
Sonnett G4 400 card using my XLR8 Machspeed Control Panel. (Hence turning
off the Sonnett software). But more importantly, since the Sonnett cannot
be overclocked, what I wanted to know is, if what would happen if I boosted
the Backside Cache Settings in the Control Panel?

Well, for the last few days, I have been not only using the XLR8 CP, but I
manually boosted the backside cache as well up to 267 Mhz. That's up from
the default 200 Mhz. I can definitely tell the difference too. Well, not a
big jump but noticeable. It's been running flawless and cool temp wise too.

Now there is one higher setting (400) but that one is italicized, so I'm not
sure I have the guts to try it, yet anyhow.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody else here has tried this cross
software/hardware combination?
