I finally went ahead and reformatted the ATA hard drive in my (new?)
S900. It is hooked up through a PCI card. It had 10.2 on it, but it
had some problems, and I thought I'd just get a fresh start. I took the
hard drive down to zeros. I booted up on the 9.2 scsi drive. I used
XPostFacto to install 10.2. It said it would take about 2 hours to do
it. I let it run a while. When I came back I had the gray apple screen
with writing that said I needed to restart. I restarted and got the
same screen. I tried again, same result. I booted up in to 9.2 and
used XPostFacto to restart on the 10.2 drive. Again I get the gray
screen telling me to restart. j
Somebody please help me get this straightened out!
Mike
Um, try install Disc 2 ? I got confused on that one. Then restart and see if the install continues.
Dunno why you re-wrote all zeros. Seems to just waste time when a simple initialization would do normally.
Also, I have not memorized the thread am on Digest, but 9.2 SCSI Drive? 9.2GB? No matter on that.
One thing I see is that OS X on ATA/IDE like to be on the _first_ 8GB of a drive (non-scsi) so that may add another variable. My 8500 and my 9600 run small (~1.2-4gb) stripped to the bone OS 9 startup drives with XPF and then IDE Drives (2 each) and the smallest IDE is 3GB (OS X bootable via XPF) and the others are like 10-20GB running users folders via Mike Bombich's instructions here:

OK, now I have confused myself. LOL
Back to DIgest and I will catch the next Digest if not CC'ed. Best of luck. Back into the back room to figure out why classic will not play Putt-sumething game for my 4 yr. old! Argh.
