Thanks to all who replied to my inquiry.

To expand a bit on my original post, several of the "MS" or "Microsoft"
tagged messages have had attachments that claim to be security patches.
These have been official looking HTML mails with graphics and links.
The others are notices of undeliverable messages and says 'please see below'
for the original message that I supposedly tried to send but ofcourse there
is nothing shown.
These messages are very brief and always shows a different address, both for
the sender (me) and the recipient.
I don't know how I end up getting the notices when the sender's address
doesn't match mine.
Some of these messages have shown up with "MS" or "Microsoft" as the ISP.

Anyway, I think this is yet another case of a Klez-like 'external' virus
where our addresses were harvested from a PC somewhere. I have no reason to
suspect a virus infiltrating my computer.

Fortunately they haven't been as numerous as some others have reported.
Maybe several a day, sometimes none.

Thanks again for the feedbacks and links to reports on the problem.

Alan
