Hi Bob, To the best of my knowledge, only a qualified Apple branded computer <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583> with built-in FireWire can be booted as an external FireWire drive, aka Target disk mode, and only an Apple branded computer with built-in FireWire can be booted from an external FireWire drive. Then again, someone here might know of a PCI FireWire card that lets this happen. PCI SCSI cards exist that permit booting from SCSI devices, but none that I know of permit booting the computer into SCSI disk mode, like the PowerBooks. There are PCI IDE class cards that can attach a bootable volume, but none that I know of that can return the favor. Peace, paul -- Paul F.
