Well, I'm having the problem again.  I tried the lookupd -flushcache, but
that didn't solve it.  After examining my network settings, here's what I
discovered.  When I choose DHCP, then initiate a TCP/IP operation (ping my
router), the IP address pops up as "self-assigned".  Setting my IP address
manually doesn't seem to help either.  I can't remember what I did the last
time to get to the point where I could see the router.

Could this have to do with my use of a PCI 10/100 card rather than the
built-in ethernet?  Do I need any special drivers for OSX?  It's weird that
it works intermittently.
