I've been running OS 8.5 happily for quite some time, but to connect my ethernet modem I need to upgrade to OS 9. My S900 has a G3 processor and the HD is formatted with HD Toolkit. I've been looking at OS 9 on e-bay...yikes! I'm confused about what I should look for and what will be compatible for my system. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks, Sandy
Sandy,
Why must you upgrade? If you have enough RAM, OS9 is not a bad upgrade to do, but I hate being told by someone I'm buying a service from that I *have* to upgrade. I'm assuming that you are adding a cable or dsl modem to the household. Probably the easiest thing to do is to spend the $40 on a router to stick between your s900 and the modem. I got a new 4 port 10/100 Mb/s SMC that is capable of DHCP (cable) or PPPOE (dsl) for under $50 shipped. If it's a cable modem, 8.5 should work as is - it's just not likely to be 'supported' by your provider (that's where we come in ;)
