You have Jaguar on an IDE drive and tried installing 10.2.8 on that drive? If a SCSI drive is used does the problem still occur? Have you read any thing about other peoples experiences? I think that some info was flying around recently and it passed me by. I think I remember that Will S. said that the upgrade to 10.2.8 via the software update app was NG and that he had success with downloading directly from Apple.
