Hi Richard Sounds like you have a similar set up to mine-cable modem, router, etc. Also seems like your basic settings are correct. You are able to go on line with each of the two machines so the router address setup would be ok. What I would try is to take it from the other direction. What I did and do when I add another computer to the my network is to go to the new computer (in your case the #2 machine running 9.x) and turn file sharing on, make sure AppleTalk is active and in the AppleTalk cp, make sure that ethernet is set in the top panel (you may have more than one choice on ethernet: built in or a fast card- try one and then the other if it doesn't work) and then---you should be able to go to the chooser and select the AppleShare icon. You should get the name of the OSX machine popping up in the box on the right. Click on that. If this works you will have a set where your OSX machine is the mama and its drive(s) will mount on to your 9.x machine. Each drive that you want from the mamma should be mountable. There are some minor things to set up and they will be self explaining if you have success. If you restart your 9.x machine, during start up it will ask you to okay the mounting of the drives on the mamma (excuse the non tech termnology). Let us know if this helps. dan_A -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
