You may want to find/borrow an external SCSI CD drive such as a burner
and boot up the machine from that using a bootable CD.

Then load your 9.1 install disc onto the internal CD drive and launch
the install.

That is how I did a fresh install of 9.1 onto an IDE partition as well
as an UW partition.

As you can see, these is a slight twist to the method I used....

At least worth a try if you have access to an external CD drive.
The key thing is NOT attempting to boot up from the install disc and
installing the OS.
