Thanks; didn't know that -- it may be the answer to the USB/FireWire pci board problem.

The specific problem is that neither the system nor Apple Profiler can see the card at all. But the architecture problem my well be it.

<< What software did you use to create the RAID? If you can mount an OS

I used Initio's Conley RAID Drive software . When I use ANY system installer -- CD or file-based -- the installer refuses to allow me the RAID as a drive option. I fervently wish I COULD install a system to my RAID, as I have no way of starting up from any other drive than the main, plain SCSI -- again, I have NEVER been able to start up from a system CD in my Yamaha 8424S drive, even though the drive is certainly supported by Apple. These two sad facts -- that I cannot start up from either a System CD OR the RAID -- means that disk diagnosis of the Main drive is extremely limited.

<< But I don't think that a need for OS 9.2x is the root
cause of any of your problems. >>

I agree -- but if I understand correctly, OS 9.2x installs all the USB and FireWire authoring bits. Meanwhile, I'm going to physically move the card to an upper pci slot. If THIS works, AND I can figure out how to make a boot CD and/or install an OS on my RAID, I will be ecstatic. If I could then get the old TurboTV card to work again, life would be complete... well, for a few minutes anyway!

Thanks so much for your help -- I'll let you know how it all comes out.
