First, thanks to everyone who responded to my call for help re installing OS 9.1 on my new IDE drive. I modified Alanšs suggestion and booted up from my original 2 GB SCSI drive running 8.6 and installed OS 9.1 from the Apple CD onto one of the partitions of the IDE w/o a hitch. Bruce and John, thanks again for all the valuable info. After reading some of the messages on this digest about the strengths of SCSI versus the flaws and weaknesses of IDE I'm starting to wonder if my Western Digital 120 GB EIDE drive is a piece of crap and whether I should return it (if possible) and shell out the bucks for a smaller, but more reliable SCSI drive. I work w/ Photoshop intensively, 3D modeling, and animation and down the road I would like to be able to install a multi-track recording application for MIDI and (dreaming on) at some point do some video editing. But putting MIDI and video aside, I want to be able to work w/ digital images (some of which will be quite large) and store them on one of the partitions of the IDE. Am I not going to be able to rely on this drive? Also, Išve read that you should install your OS on every partition that you create on a drive. Would like to hear some pros and cons on that. Thanks.
