Is the drive visible to Apple System Profiler ? If the drive does not contain info and can be seen by HDST, I would reformat the drive. Apple's Drive Setup is another option. Or.... Drives that don't mount can be seen by disc utilities. Sometimes all that's needed is to 'mount' the drive using the utility. These suggestions is assuming the drives and cards are configured and cabled properly, which sortof sounds like they are based on what you said.
