Simple SCSI:

unique id's

terminate each END of the cable
(motherboard/adapter usually provides term to its end, although with the E100 card it is software selectable)


jumpers installed to enable termination


UMAX --> CDROM ---> HD (at physical end of cable) term term (jumper on enable termination pins) id 7 id 3 id 0

the motherboard/adapter should provide term power to the bus.
