Hi,
Has there ever been a sonnet crescendo 375 Mhz proccesor upgrade for a
Umax pulsar ? I can't find any reference to such a card on sonnets site,
nor on www.everymac.com.
Was there ever a G3 375 processor made for the umax pulsar that came with
it originally?

Regards Steve Jarvis

Plugging in "Sonnet Crescendo 375" at the www.google.com search site tells me yes there was a Sonnet by this name. It was a daughter card (PDS) card that fit most any Mac or clone Power Mac PCI machine.
The Umax machines were never licensed by Apple to use a G3 CPU. As a way around this near the end Umax sold S900 machines with 604e CPU's installed and a G3 cpu in the box which you installed yourself. It was a G3 250 cpu. Memory tells me it was either a Mactell or Newer Tech brand. Can't find any info on this without spending too much time on it. Everymac.com does mention the base S900 with G3 in the box. So no a G3 375 never came with the Umax machines from the factory. Likely hadn't even gotten too that speed yet. No telling what was sold in the last few months of the Umax clone sell offs. Lots of machines were put together with whatever parts could be found in the last days and was often done by dealers getting rid of parts on hand. later Will S
