To sell myself on Panther, I did the installs on my B&W G3 and G3 iBook first-cool. Trying the latest XPF on my S900 G4 Sonnet 450 MHz from OS 10.2.8 gives a flashing CD light but the screen action ends at a ; that is, a circle with a line thru it.

I tried various throttle speeds with and without the L2 cache on. I get the same in both OS 9.1 & OS 10.2.8. The CD can be manually ejected with the panel button so it never really "caught" to start the install.

The install stops before the unix screen can be invoked with option "S" keys (single user mode). I don't want a circle with a line thru it. What fun is that? Thanks for any ideas and help.
