A number of years back lightening struck the building where my business is located. Needless to say, it fried the phone and security systems. (probably would have fried the computer too, but I did not own one at the time) Since then I always run our DSL lines through a UPS. Maybe it does slow things down a bit, I don't know. But the DSL is so much faster than our old dial-up modem that we don't complain much. Maybe ignorance is bliss...
