If you suspect the problem is memory, you might want to boot up in OS 9 and use RAMometer to test your RAM. Bad sticks are not that difficult to identify. There should be a wealth of info in the SuperMac archives if you do a search for "RAM Sandwich" which is a nice way of testing the memory.

I don't know what other suspects you have eliminated. I had strange problems with 10.2 when I first installed it on a G3B&W that I purchased used. It turned out to be a failing hard drive. It took me a couple of weeks of eliminating other possibilities.
