I have Earthlink DSL on my S900(original10base eithernet port), running phone & power through an APS
1000 UPC. After 6 months the Detroit area had problems with MacPOet, so I was advised(by Earthlink)
to purchase a router. I installed an Asante 3000 series router and have been problem free since. It
is imperative to remove all traces of SBC and MacPOet from your HD, as the DSL Modem needs to access
through the Router software without interference. Your ISP should be able to give you the proper
addresses to program the router. It should not make any difference if you are on a Mac or Windows at
the router stage of the DSL game. I have noticed service slowdowns and access problems recently but
do not attribute these to the use of an UPS. I believe it is just overload of the ISP's
servers/and-or their virus filtration slowing things down, usually about 10PM. Paul Corsa
