Jenna, Actually, what you told us is that you are trying to boot from _copies_ of system disks. That is something very different from attempting to boot from a known bootable CD-ROM. First of all, a device needs a driver for the OS to attach and mount it. If you are imaging from a hard disk, then it shall be hard disk drivers that are written to the driver partitions and a hard disk partition map that is written to the CD-R, either of which is a recipe for failure. If you are imaging from a CD-ROM, then care must be taken to include those extra partitions by doing a device copy, and not merely a volume copy. Secondly, CD-ROM is, by definition, read-only; I suspect that your hard disk is read-write, and the OS as installed on that hard disk expects to be able to write to the boot volume at start up. This is rather difficult for a read-only disk. Special attention to this issue needs to be given when building a volume that is bootable from a read-only disk. Hoping this adds a little light to your heat. -- Paul F. Henegan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
