Lee,
Any card that is compatible with OS8.6/9 should work. We're
running a Farallon card in my wife's system that's really a DEC 21040
chipset. It 10mbit and seems to work well. If you can find a DEC card
with a 21040 chipset with some work and either the Farallon driver or the
Sonic driver IIRC should be able to get it to work (as I think I did on
the other C500). The Kingston cards are 100mbit and have Mac drivers
IIRC. I'd start by finding out what companies offer Mac drivers and then
see about finding a card accordingly.
Ideally you should be able to pay $10, no more than $20. Unfortunately
they always want to seem to gouge you to say "Mac supported". However,
most cards are just rebadged. Hence the reason why I was able to get a
true DEC 21040 card running.
Of course, I'm running linux on my C500 so I've run several different
cards, Linux does not care.
