Only in an academic environment such an endeavor is possible.
My family happens to live and work in said university town with a (town) library that has a free-access computer room dontated by...Bill Gates.
After about 15 years of using Macs, the newspaper I work at recently started phasing them out and switching over to Dells - This includes the ad/news graphics and news photo departments, which will happen sometime next year.
Ours is the last to do so after all other sisiter papers switched.
Some of us may continue to use Macs for imaging work, especially when on the road with laptops.
So, in light of all this what did I do ?
For the same amount of money spent on my s900 new in 1998, sitting next to me are a DP2.0 G5 and a 1.25 ghz G4, both very recent purchases from Apple's refurb section.
