The S900 has two SCSI chains. The slower, internal/external one has a plugin near the rear fan. I'd try plugging in there. If a known good drive works there you can then diagnose the faster internal only SCSI chain with more confidence. Be sure your known working drive has Mac drivers.Too bad you don't have a SCSI CD to plug in-it'd test the SCSI without bringing HD driver issues to the table. Paul C

Just chiming in here. It sounds like the SCSI controller in the machine is going bad. When things aren't seen, it's usually a termination problem. Given that you've tried a good SCSI hard drive in there, that seems like the most likely candidate.

Just to be certain, though, I'd verify that the cables are tight and connected correctly (something to check if they're not keyed!), that you're using the shortest cable length possible (to assure the strongest signal) or at least getting the cable out of the way so that other connectors on the cable don't touch stuff.

I had tried so many things with no good results, so I finally

So, I replaced it with a known working SCSI HD, & it wasn't Seen either!

Can anyone give me a clue what to try next, to get "SCSI " HAPPY!
I don't have any SCSI items hooked up, to make a SCSI chain.
All that's SCSI is the original HD.
On my s900, OS 9.1 G4/450 & 1gig of ram. With an ATA100 card in for an

& the system went thru too many uncontrollable restarts to mention.

I know someone from this great list has to know the answer to my SCSI problem!

Thanks in advance, Kim :-)
