You did not say which system software you are using, but without knowing this, my first thought would be that the trackball may require a driver. Most of the time these can be found at the particular hardware web site.


I also know that in system 9.1 there is something in the control panel called Trackpad software, I have had no reason to use this so did not load it when installing my system software, but it could be that your trackball needs this.

If your computer was not having a problem before adding the new trackball, I would think that something is conflicting instead of it being a power supply problem.

One more question on this dreadfully strange problem...
To refreash, I had to get a new trackball & it
came with adapters to be used by ADB or USB.
After connecting up the new trackball, my computer
started restarting 2-3 times or endless
or it would simply freeze up!
Twice I was up & running fine & working when it shut down
