soykrupa, I am not completely sure I understand what your question is. I think that you are asking about how I enabled the cache in Panther. (For others reading this, Panther is required to run the latest version of Java which is required to be able to run the DVArchive software.)
I am running a Sonnet Crescendo G4/800 chip, and loaded it originally using the old version of XPostFacto, I think it was almost three years ago. At the time, I enabled the cache using L2CacheConfig which was linked on the XPostFacto site.
When I upgraded to Panther, I used the newer version of XPostFacto, which was in Alpha at the time. I was able to do an archive and install upgrade over the Jaguar installation I had running at the time. I assume that the version of L2CacheConfig that was running on that volume is still functioning, although I admit I have not looked into it.
So far, I have not been successful with getting a clean install of Panther running on another partition volume on the same machine. I completed the installation from system disk, but on rebooting, the machine kernel panics every time. I have not yet had any success troubleshooting it, although I have not worked very hard at it. The cache issue could be the reason for my problems. I will have to look into it. I am glad you brought that up.
If that is not your question, then please try to restate it, sorry if I misunderstood.
