Thanks to all who have offered ideas. I was able to run the dvd player
through an analog to digital converter and record it back onto the hard
drive with iMovie. Then I took frames and made stills. They turned out
okay, but kind of grainy. I'm going to take some time tomorrow to see if I
can go back and save each frame as a Mac Pict file instead of compressing it
into a JPG. Then I'm going to save it at a much higher resolution. After
that I'll PhotoShop it a little with Photoshop Elements. Maybe I can make
them a little better.
The kid who took the video had most of it on his hard drive. He sent me
the raw video files on a dvd. I may try to run it into iMovie or Final Cut
Express and see if I can get a better copy that way.
Even as it stands now, I was able to get some excellent shots of my son,
Joey from this summer.
    Thanks again.
    Mike
