Yes, you can.  I put a 40 gig though I believe 5400 RPM in mine.  You 
won't get the full performance that the drive is capable of 5400 or 7200 
given the ATA 33 controller on the C500.  However, it should work without 
issue.  One other thing to check on is the amount of heat the drive 
generates.  If it's not hot I would not worry.  If it's a bit warm (use 
your judgement) then you may want to augment the cooling (how in that 
small case is a good question).  Otherwise IDE is IDE.
