HI, What kind of button switch do I need to replace the 'on' switch that is on the front of the UMAX S900. I presume it is working on a low voltage and telling the power unit to come on rather than actually turning on the mains voltage directly. Correct me if I'm wrong on that point. Is there some specific part or would any button switch work as long as it fits in the aailable space ? The S900 is continually not powering p or partially powering up and stopping. Lots of repressing of the switch seems to work. I think though that the switch is faulty.
I haven't mapped out the on switch, but most likely it is a low voltage momentary contact switch which ties the "power on" line to ground momentarily.
However, the symptoms you are describing are more likely to be the symptom of a faulty power supply or if you're really unlucky a failing motherboard. But the power supply would be the most likely culprit.
