Are you having trouble installing an internal IDE 52X CDW in your s900? Is your ATA card an ACARD66 (Sonnet UltraATA66, etc)? It may be well known, but it took me a long time to find out that this card will support a CDROM, but not a CDW. An Ultra ATA133 works fine.
