Exactly how do I go about disabling/enabling termination on the new
internal SCSI drive that I am connecting?

SCSI termination is enabled by installing a single jumper or disabled by removing that jumper (unless you have a really old drive (~pre-1994) with resistor packs).

The trick is to identify that jumper. The Western Digital drives that I've seen in Umaxs had a dia gram printed on the metal of the drive which identifies which jumper has what function. Other brands of drive (Umax used many) may not have such a convenient dia gram. In that case, you'll need to hunt up a data sheet or user's guide for the drive in question. These are usually avaiable on line somewhere, depending on the brand.

On many drive there will be the tiny-tiny letters (much smaller than Don Ho's bubbles), TE, printed next to the termination jumper. The SCSI ID jumpers will be microscopically labeled A0, A1, A2 (and on Wide drives, A3). Termination Power will be labeled TP. This is more typical on Quantum drives and some Seagate drives.
