You have two options, Quik and BootX. If you don't mind the fact that you
may not get to see quik in action it's the way to go. I say this because
whatever default video mode it comes up in on my PM7500/100 does not jive
with any monitor. I've tried the work arounds but they all seemed to have
their downsides and one clear of the pram later and I'd be back at square
one. The upshot of quik is that you don't have to have a MacOS partition.

BootX needs an install of MacOS in order to run. That's not the end of
the world, I've been running this setup on a Moto Starmax 3000 (Tanzania
chipset clone) with an uptime of well over a year. It boots into MacOS
long enough to kick off BootX, which then launches Linux.

If you have no need to use MacOS then I'd go quik, Debian does the best
job dealing with esoteric hardware with quik.

If you may want to keep around a MacOS partition (especially if drivespace
is not an issue) then Yellow Dog Linux with BootX is a good choice.

One final note, most kernels shipping with PPC Linux distros do not have
non-standard (read non-apple) ATA/IDE support built in. It's possible to
build a kernel and add that support, just don't expect it as part of the
install.
