For those running Tiger, this article fromCreative Pro may be of interest. Paul C

It does look like fun and perhaps useful software. It uses the new "Core Image" feature of Tiger. Core Image moves all the graphics work from the cpu to the graphics card. This speeds things up a lot as the cpu then gets more power for everything else. It requires a high end AGP graphics card. The oldest machine which can perhaps make use of "Core Images" Is the Power Mac G4 (AGP Sawtooth). G4 PCI yikes machine can't use an AGP video card. Even the Mac mini which has an ATI 9200 AGP Video card can't use Core image. The 9200 card doesn't do core image and the Mac mini video can't be upgraded. Seems odd but I guess Apple figures "Core Image" to be for high end graphics users only . Here's the list of cards which would let you run Core Image in a modern high end Power Mac. Umax machines can not use AGP cards so we are out of luck.
Core Image-capable graphics cards include:

    * ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
    * ATI Radeon 9550, 9650, 9600, 9600 XT, 9800 XT, X800 XT
    * nVidia GeForce FX Go 5200
    * nVidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
    * nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL, 6800 GT DDL

Unlike Quartz extreme which officially needs an AGP card but can be hacked to run on PCI video cards there is no hack for Core Images nor is there likely to be one.
