Thanks for the link paul, now all I got to do is get me a copy of
tiger lol
Anyone find it better than 10.3??
I don't want to go to the expense to find its just eye candy and such
that's
changed. I believe theres some good bits but I just want someones
opinion on
it.

Tiger continues the progression of Mac OSX from Jaguar & Panther . I
say progression because there are no major changes you spot right off.
Ok Tiger does have the major change of "dashboard widgets" Small
colorful apps that mostly do one thing well and are located on the
desktop. This isn't a new thing to people used to Linux or some
versions of Unix. They can easily be hidden thank the gods ;-) Most
other changes take a while to find or notice. "Spotlight" is a major
change in the "find" or search feature in OSX. It looks a lot like the
Google search feature of most web browsers . Type in a few letters or a
word and there it is instantly. It can be used to find anything on
your hard drive in a fraction of a sec. Can be used to open apps etc
quickly. Disk utilities now fixes files that have been over written or
overlapped in the same place for the first time. Tiger also boots and
seems faster even on old machines even the Umax S900/ J700 ! My Pismo
powerbook the oldest supported Tiger machine boots in 40 sec ! Less
then half of what it used to take with Panther. Even the umax J700
boots faster but not as fast as the Pismo G3. I am still using Panther
10.3.8 as my everyday Mac OS on the Umax J700 . I've just been too lazy
to put all my needed apps on Tiger and or upgrade them as needed etc.
The other thing is my Umax j700 has never ran better nearly totally
stable running 10.3.8 . Once in a while the web browser crashes but not
the Mac OS. So just need to open the browser again and back to surfing
. The improvement seems to have come with not booting into OS 9.x on my
machine. Using both OSX &OS 9 seems to slowly corrupt hard drives and
not just the boot drives. Which means running Disk Warrior a lot to
keep things fixed.I no longer need nor use OS 9 so took a while to
realize where this improved usability of my Umax machine was coming
from.
I will move to Tiger in time but see no real hurry nor advantage. I
boot into and use it from time to time. Will S
