Indeed. Apple was pushing Firewire as the connectivity standard and USB was Intel's vehicle. Firewire has become the choice for A/V but since USB2 has caught up to Firewire in theoretical xfer speed it has overshadowed Firewire. I suspect Firewire will continue to have a place but USB2 looks like the new standard. Hence, USB2 on iPods.
