I've got something kind of cool to share with all you Supermac users.
I began with a c600, then eventually was able to buy an s900 and then a second. Well, a few years have passed and I've since moved on to an AGP Sawtooth, but mostly now use a G4 Titanium 800 out of convenience. But I still like the s900's and I'll keep at least one.
A few weeks ago I had sold some software on Craigslist SF (I live in Oregon but selling stuff is sometimes easier down there), after posting, I was doing some looking around on the list. I noticed a post from someone who was looking for an s900. So I contacted the poster who needed to find an s900 case fast, so we made a deal for one of my two machines and I shipped it down to him.
Well I since learned the purpose of his purchase. My humble little machine was soon to receive a makeover and go on display at MACWORLD EXPO 2006 in San Francisco. COOL HUH?! My baby will become a STAR. Unfortunately the door I had provided him had broke on me while preparing for shipment, so that's why I was trying to find a replacement. He apparently has it fixed for the show, but I still want to get him a good replacement in the weeks to come. If somebody living in CA has just a door he can get by Monday, let me know. Not much time left so hopefully he will be OK for now with the one he has.
Anyway, his name is Antonio Malcolm, and he has apparently been a list member here too. What a small world. Well it seems he is giving the case a hot paint-job, retrofitting with a fast G4 Quicksilver Motherboard and processor, I suspect a power supply, and more. He's burning the midnight oil to soup up and retrofit this machine for display at MacWorld. Sure it doesn't have the factory motherboard any more, but he's carrying this classic into the future.
Apparently pictures will also be posted at MacMod.com at some point. I suspect this is the sponsor page for the event. http:// www.macmod.com/content/view/544/1/
So if anyone here is making the pilgrimage to MacWorld, make sure to drop by the booth and have a look. Give my baby a hug for me too will ya? Let her know I'm proud. So cool! Give Antonio your support too, he's got an awesome project going.
