My apologies for the HTML Email - forgot to switch to Plain text :)

Anyway,

I've tried a dead on apachectl stop and then start.

It still shows the modules loaded, but doesn't show any existing
configuration under /server-info/.

I know the vhost file is working because it DOES see the php_admin_value
open_basedir none

If I disable loading of the suphp module, it also starts yelling about
invalid configuration options (suPHP_*).

I've had this happen on a second server not that long ago. Last entry in
the log was about 9:00pm MST. All log activities stop at that point
without any of the following:

No server restart
No apache restart
No configuration changes to the server
No one even logged into the server until the problem was noticed by my
customer.

One is a CentOS4 (Apache 2.0.52 w/ PHP 4.3.9), other is RH FC6 (Apache
2.2.6 w/ PHP 5.2.5)

This is the oddest behaviour I've seen from a module since I started
futzing around with Apache 10 years ago.

Both of these servers are running PLESK.

I've tried recompiling and reinstalling from scratch to no avail.

HTML mails sure are annoying.

I have no guaranteed explanation for the problem you're experiencing,
but I *have* seen this behaviour when using "apachectl restart" or
"apachectl graceful" before. I've seen Apache stop loading modules and
start behaving oddly under these circumstances.

If you actually stop and start the server, does the problem go away?

If not, I have no other ideas...
