Ok got up a new dedicated server.. Running Linux and apache and plesk.

I need the mod_suphp
<http://www.suphp.org/DocumentationView.html?file=apache/INSTALL> to
beable to set my permission right.. As after reading some post I see this is
why I can't get my Joomla to work with out using the FTP layer want to stay
away from that..

"1 .But when I go to the admin section and then the Directory Permissions

All of them are Unwritable

They are all set to 755 for the DIR

But I have to change them to 777 to make them work WHY?

2. Also to with the Files they were set to 644 but the only way i can get it
to work is 777 or 666"

So as I read I need the suphp mod..

Here is a forum that I'm getting some help from -
http://www.akeebabackup.com/forum/24185/topic.html

I currently have these mods loaded

core prefork http_core mod_so mod_auth_basic mod_auth_digest mod_authn_file
mod_authn_alias mod_authn_anon mod_authn_dbm mod_authn_default
mod_authz_host mod_authz_user mod_authz_owner mod_authz_groupfile
mod_authz_dbm mod_authz_default util_ldap mod_authnz_ldap mod_include
mod_log_config mod_logio mod_env mod_ext_filter mod_mime_magic mod_expires
mod_deflate mod_headers mod_usertrack mod_setenvif mod_mime mod_dav
mod_status mod_autoindex mod_info mod_dav_fs mod_vhost_alias mod_negotiation
mod_dir mod_actions mod_speling mod_userdir mod_alias mod_rewrite mod_proxy
mod_proxy_balancer mod_proxy_ftp mod_proxy_http mod_proxy_connect mod_cache
mod_suexec mod_disk_cache mod_file_cache mod_mem_cache mod_cgi mod_version
mod_bw mod_fcgid mod_perl mod_php5 mod_proxy_ajp mod_python mod_ssl

I see that I have mod_php5 - I think this will conflict with the mod_suphp.
If so how do I turn off the MOD_PHP5 and then get running the suphp one..
(Just learning this stuff so please bear with me..)

Do I need to change anything on my website? When I installed it in plesk?

I have Run PHP as Apache Module, FastCGI Application, CGI Application? What
one will I need to use to make it work?

Thanks..

Rick
