John, dunno if you figured out the solution to this, but I stumbled on
this tonight myself.  Do a:
 pkg_add -r 
ftp://ftp2.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-6-stable/All/lighttpd-1.4.8.tbz

and you should be able to rerun build_embedded.sh and continue.  I
suspect (haven't tried this) that if you logged into the webUI and
upgraded it to 1.0b1 you would have had the right packages installed
too.
