This is a continuation of an old problem On Sat, 26 Jul 2008 02:38:29 in an Article titled Displaying UUencoded jpg attachments in newsarticles ?? Message-ID: <[email protected]> in the newsgroup mozilla.support.seamonkey I wrote:
I have view attachments in line checked. I retrieve a news article which has a UUencoded .jpg attached Instead of a picture I get the little broken picture icon. If I File the article to a folder in Local_Folders and then click on the article in the Local_Folder it opens AND DISPLAYS the picture in-line just fine! What options or settings or code do I have to correct, ? so that the .jpg attachments will display directly without needing to go through all the folderoll? Stanimir Stamenkov <[email protected]> kindly replied: I have no (never had) problem view uuencoded pictures inline using SeaMonkey (Mozilla Mail). You may check a test post I've just made over in the mozilla.test.multimedia group: "Uuencode test". It might be the attachment is bigger and you need to wait for it more to load and appear. The text part usually appears immediately. -------------------- I retrieved his posting from the test group and indeed it displayed just fine! At that time I was using SM 1.0.7 and thought that perhaps whatever Had been fixed since. HOWEVER I am now using SM 1.1.14 and I am still having problems! Here are some more details about the problem(s) 1) System is Win98se with SM 1.1.14 and Outlook Express 6 (6.00.2800.1123) 2) The problem seems to only affect articles and pictures from before approximately July 2007. 4) NOTE When I retrieve the article using OE, the pictures display just fine 5) With SM: 5.1) When I retrieve such articles, I now get a little icon with a red dot (not period) , rather than a broken picture icon. 5.2) When I display the message source (CTRL-U), I can see the UUencoded text for the jpg. 5.3) When I click on the little icon and try to show the picture, then I get a blank browser screen 5.4) When I try to open from the little icon in the attachments box I mostly get an error message saying that the message is unavailable 'perhaps expired' For Dennis and whose ever retention is that long, here are examples: newsgroup alt.graphics.illustrator, articles: Subject: - bakker.jpg (1/1) Anybody knows how to achieve this effect?
