Worry not, Mac's are most certainly supported. I'm running 2.0a3 on a Mac.
I believe most of the work now is going on in the 2.0 branch. Anything
on 1.1.x is security related only.
Some of the developers do pop in here, so you may get a more enlightened
answer from them, but I would not fear for a loss of Mac support.
