An interesting issue came up on the Ubuntu linux user list today; user
claimed that a 3rd party flash application doesn't work w/linux &
Firefox. Disclaimer: I don't use Facebook, but created an account to test.

The 3rd party application (for all you Facebook folks) is 'Texas
Hold'em' & the complaint was that the user couldn't change/connect to a
different Casino using the Flash dropdown. A pic of the specific
dropdown is here (good for the next 6-7 days):

http://imagebin.org/66624

The issue is that when the user clicks on 'Change Casino', the flash app
is supposed to open a selection box containing various alternate
'Casino's' that you can connect to.

In an attempt to prove that it wasn't an Ubuntu linux issue (it's not),
I created a facebook account, and went to:
http://apps.facebook.com/texas_holdem/index.php?chkfeed=y. I found that
when I clicked the 'Change Casino', it did not give me a selection box
for alternate casino servers using SM 2.0pre.

Let me point out that all of my mozilla applications (Firefox,
Thunderbird, SeaMonkey) are standard mozilla apps (non-Ubuntu'ized) so
no linux distro specific apps are involved. Also, no UA/browser spoofing
was involved; all of the tests were with default UA id strings. Here is
what I found:

*Works* in SeaMonkey 1.1.18
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.23) Gecko/20090823
SeaMonkey/1.1.18

*Works* in FireFox 2.0.0.20:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.20) Gecko/20081217
Firefox/2.0.0.20

*Does not work* in SeaMonkey 2.0pre:
Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4pre)
Gecko/20091002 Lightning/1.0pre SeaMonkey/2.0pre

*Does not work* in Firefox:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824
Firefox/3.5.3
or
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.14) Gecko/2009082707
Firefox/3.0.14

*Does not work* in Opera:
Version
10.00
Build
4585
Platform
Linux
System
i686, 2.6.28-15-generic
Qt library
3.3.8b
Java
Java Runtime Environment installed

For *all* of the above:
Shockwave Flash

    File name: /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so
    Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32

*Works* in:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3)
Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3

and

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US;
rv:1.9.1.4pre) Gecko/20091005 SeaMonkey/2.0pre

Shockwave Flash
    File name: NPSWF32.dll
    Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32
(Tested in Win2KPro via VirtualBox)

So, yes it's possible that the 3rd party app is at fault...
And yes, I've looked through:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=facebook

And yes, I've asked the user to file a bug, but figure that I'll end up
doing it instead. But in order to do that I'd need to maintain a
facebook account (which I don't wish to do) and the devs looking at the
bug would also have to have a facebook account. So here's the question:

Can anyone other SeaMonkey _linux_ facebook user verify my tests
w/1.1.18 and 2.0pre?

Note to the folks who will most likely pop up & advise that I file a bug
with the 3rd party app supplier and/or Facebook; if I were a regular
user of this app and/or Facebook I probably would. However in order to
do that I'd need to know why the app works just fine in Windows
SeaMonkey versions and Linux SeaMonkey version 1.1.18, but not in
SeaMonkey 2.0re. Hence the post & hope that someone here can offer some
technical explanation as to the problem.
