Hi,

I just tested SM2.0 RC1 and SM2.0 RC2

In both cases, there's an issue with the NNTP reader that makes it impossible to use (for me).

I have a number of news servers and on each server, I have a number of subscribed groups:

In SM2.0 Beta2, I can expand each news server, the groups appear, and then I can choose a group and read the messages contained.

In SM2.0 RC1 and RC2, I expand the news server and suddenly get bombarded with a series of dialogs asking how many messages I want to download. It's like it's trying to enumerate EVERY subscribed group on the news server before I can view one of them! I have to dismiss every dialog before I can read any news.

Two other issues I noticed with the newsreader in RC1 and RC2.

1. I often mark a whole newsgroup as "read" by right-clicking the group in the left pane. In older SM versions, this was instant, there's now a slight (but annoying) delay.

2. When I first upgraded to RC1, I experienced the first ever crash/hang in the history of SeaMonkey! When viewing newsgroups on Microsoft's server, things worked OK (but slower than earlier builds). When viewing newsgroups on the news.mozilla.org server, the whole of SM would lock up, with processor at 100%. After many minutes, I had to "end task". Restart the browser, exactly the same lock-up. Finally, after deleting the .dat and .msf files from the profile, it started working again, but never felt as solid as the earlier builds.
