I found a problem that I was having. I happened to change my email
password. when I read my email, it obviously asked me for the new
password. I took care of that. When it came to sending an email
I kept getting an error. I knew it had to do with the password change.
I looked at the password list, scrolled to the end, and saw that the
old password for sending emails was still there. I deleted it, when
sending an email it prompted me for the new password, and voila.

hope this helps some people.
p.s. using sea monkey 2.0

I am glad you got it working. Indeed, all should not that the user/pass combination for incoming mail, (pop or imap) is not the same as for outgoing mail (smtp). The actual user/password may be the same, as it is for me, but it needs to be entered correctly in the Outgoing server place as wel as for the account.
