I installed Seamonkey 2 in its own directory and left the 1.1.18 installation in place just in case. The profile imported with only a few minor problems with settings that have been mentioned in other threads. External programs that call for the default browser or e-mail program still open the 1.1.18 versions. Seamonkey 2 preferences show that Seamonkey is already the default browser with no obvious means of specifying Seamonkey 2. How can I make SM2 the default?

Hi there,

If you are running Windows (XP/Vista...), you might like to use regedit. Check regkey below:
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\https
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto

Normally, application path would be in shell\open\command
like: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell\open\command
and you will find application path here. C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILLA.ORG\SEAMON~1\SEAMON~1.EXE -osint -url "%1" --This is my setting. Maybe you can change those path to SM2's path and save the regkey, but backup first!!!
just a-little-google-it, so I didn't try this method practically.

In honesty, regedit is not always a good idea, let it be the last solution.
