I have Windows XP Professional SP3 installed on an i17 PC that I purchased less than six months ago.

I was eager to upgrade to SeaMonkey 2.0, expecting that this long awaited major upgrade would be relatively bug-free. Instead, I had too many problems with the installation and its operation - not to mention I dislike the FireFox look/interface (icons, smileys, loss of trusted features), so have returned to Seakmonkey 1.1.18, but have run into a new problem.

I did a new installation to a new Program files folder, transferred to the new Profile folder under Application Data my previous bookmarks, addressbook, and password manager, as well as the archived mails, and made the switch of the .w and .s file numbers in the preferences file. I then created all the POP email accounts from scratch and activated all the junk mail options, but the incoming mails do not go through the junk mail options. The obvious junk mails neither get marked automatically as junk and get transferred to the junk folder, nor even after I mark them as junk manually.

I remember coming across this problem before - and I vaguely recall seeing a mention of a command line syntax change - but am unable to search the newsgroup for the answer. The already restricted SeaMonkey search feature (allows only a "From" and "Subject" search) for newsgroups does not work at all, returning this error "A News (NNTP) error occurred: syntax error or unknown command".

While I am experiencing some other minor problems, the loss of the automatic junk mail filter is a major problem for me as I get hundreds of spam mails each day. Can anyone help me resolve the script/configuration problem?

Thank you.

Marisa
